Dear Y12 Girls,

These expeditions look absolutely amazing, and 2 of them (Girls on Ice: Cascades, Girls in Icy Fjords) are suitable for any girls across the world to apply (as long as you will be 16 or 17 on June 1 2017). They involve trekking around remote glaciers and/or volcanoes in Alaska, with support from field scientists and local guides.

I would love to encourage any interested Year 12 girls to apply – the trips are free with the exception of the travel costs, which you would be encouraged to fundraise for. I would happily help you with the application process if you think you would be interested – they take 8 or 9 girls from across the world per expedition so it is very competitive.

You would need to let me know by Friday Jan 13th if you are interested so that we could complete your application form and references with enough time. The final application deadline is Jan 31st (9am Alaska Time – 6pm GMT).

Please check out the website above and come and see me (usually I’m in Br04, or the Science staffroom) if you have any questions.
